Q: why Pakistani girls are less attracted towards science ?
Every thing we do or every work with which we are associated is because of two reasons
1. Interest
2. Compulsion
Due to interest we get attracted towards that particular subject or event and start investing our time , energy and resources in it .
Sometimes we are compelled to do things in which we have zero interest but due to circumstances , responsibility and environment we have to do.
Now if we relate the given problem with this I can conclude that " interests of girls are not in science" ( majority of girls , not all ) and there is no compulsion of studying science.
Interest or passion about certain things are within ourselves from childhood but interest can also be developed within one self . The responsible Factors behind not developing this interest are
1. Home environment
2. Media
3. By degrading women's intellectual power ( specially in our men dominating society )
From childhood girls are raised in this way that in future they will get married and have children so the focus should be on learning domestic work . Even If parents send her to school college or university , they keep saying her that education is necessary nowadays but you are a girl and at the end of the day you are going to be wife and mother .
So , normally girls think what we will do after studying these complicated subjects in this way unintentionally they loose interest in science and that interest in science subjects remains undeveloped. A very few number of girls get education with focused mind and determination but mostly reason behind it is getting job . Being a student of physics I have seen many girls who don't study with heart or to get knowledge but they only study for sake of degree and GPA . Getting education has now become trend many students specially girls are not studying for their ownselves or for knowledge or for awareness but only for getting that piece of paper (degree) because after that good marriage proposals will be there for them and secondly people will recognise them as a respectable and literate members of society .
Our media also diverts attention of girls only towards cosmetics , beauty, fashion and entertainment programs.
Last but not the least, sadly in our society women are labelled as intellectually weak creatures . So most of the times they get demotivation from their fathers and brothers about studying science .
Note: this is happening in majority of cases, there are exceptional girls in our society who are beautifully and bravely playing their role in every field of life including science and engineering.
